Thanks to flawless organization and great participation from players from Eastern Canada, this tournament was once again a success.
The tournament attracted 90 participants who were able to showcase their skills and compete in the following four disciplines: table tennis, badminton, pickleball, and tennis. For each of these sports, local volunteers were present to ensure everything ran smoothly.
The proper medal ceremonies, food counters, a players’ meal on Saturday, nearby hotels, well-maintained facilities—all of this contributed to making the event a success.
Now, let’s move on to the results:
In the women’s category, Julianne Proulx remained undefeated, defeating Christina Selby by 15 points in the final.
On the men’s side, the prodigy Patrick Laplante was able to hold off the very talented Maxime-Rome Gosselin. We also saw a surprise performance from junior player Nathan Bédard, who managed to defeat Canada’s no. 2 player, Jérémy Easterbrook, in the quarter-finals.
In the B category, it was the very consistent Philippe Côté-Jacques who won after many times finishing as a finalist. His surprise opponent was 17-year-old junior Amir Lavasani, who, despite being deprived of his best sport (squash), made it all the way to the final. Notable was his victory over Steve Mikovich in the semi-finals.
In the C category, Yannick Picard defeated Brandon Chow.
In the women’s B category, Mireille Foster won all her matches, followed by Danielle Pouliot in second place.
