The young athlete from Ontario was the star of this event with two gold medals, he first defeated Nathan Bédard in the U-14 only to follow with an impressive win in the U-17 against local player Cedric Grenapin. On the men’s side, Dany Lessard gave his best to equal Maxime’s performance, after winning the O-45 but he came short in the men’s Elite division when the much stronger Jeremy Easterbrook defeated him in only 3 sports, Jeremy even defeated Dany in his best sport (table tennis) thus showing the results of his constant training in table tennis. American player Andy Stenson, finished second in the O-45 , he was leading tennis at mid-game but came short to Dany who has amazing stamina. The women’s event was dominated by badminton and triathlon specialist Heather Dart who was able to pull the upset vs top seeded player Line Bellerose who was ready for this event, it was close but again, stamina provided. U-11 winner was Christian Lapner over Noah Mikovich. Doubles was won by the pair composed of Sheldon Dattenberger and Paul Morrisson from Nairobi , Kenya. Side story for this tournament was the thunderstorm and strong wind that made the tennis bubble move on its foundation. Many players ran for the exit expecting the thing to collapse on them. Fortunately only a big tree did not sustain the high wind. Thanks Steve for giving us the chance to compete in our sport.
