Here is the report from the Ranking Chairwoman Damaris Brix:
The Leith Wheeler Glencoe Racketlon was a huge success. The tournament hosts were very hospitable: participants received a drywick shirt, numerous beer tickets, appetizers both Friday and Saturday night, and muffins Sunday morning. There was an enthusiastic crowd of players, some having never played racketlon before and others who had played several events. One father and son team played (Dad was 78 and a skilled all-round player). The mens Open event was dominated by Evan Mancer who took out Danny Shannon in the finals. Peter Brix and Danny Shannon won the huge Mens Doubles draw of 32 teams. These two veteran players beat out Brent Olynyk (Olympian and Pan American Games Gold Medalist in Badminton) and hotshot partner Joseph Donaldson. The womens Open events were won by Squash players Kathy Conquergood (over Damaris Brix) in the Singles, and Jaime Laird and Jackie Moss (over Damaris and Pam Berry). In addition to the Open events, A,B & C divisions were held. Full results can be found on Tournament Software. It was a treat to spend the weekend in this lovely club. Just after the tournament concluded 600 children in costumes and their parents swarmed the club for a giant Halloween Party with trick or treating in all the venues. The Badminton hall was filled with jumping castles.
